The final chapter of Zechariah looks to a day of Yahweh. It begins with Jerusalem in distress as nations gather against it. Then Yahweh will go out and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the mount will split in two, forming a valley through which God's people escape. Zechariah says, Yahweh my God will come, and all the holy ones with you.
The chapter describes a transformed world. It will be a unique day which is known to Yahweh, not day and not night, but at evening time there will be light. Living waters will go out from Jerusalem, half toward the eastern sea and half toward the western sea, flowing in summer and in winter. At the center is verse 9: Yahweh will be King over all the earth. In that day Yahweh will be one, and his name one. Jerusalem will dwell safely, and there will be no more curse.
The nations that once came against Jerusalem will come to worship. Everyone who is left will go up from year to year to worship the King, Yahweh of Armies, and to keep the feast of tents. The book ends by erasing the line between sacred and ordinary: HOLY TO YAHWEH will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be holy to Yahweh of Armies. Christians believe this vision looks forward to God's final kingdom, and in the New Testament, Revelation 22:3 also says there will be no more curse.
