Song of Solomon 6 · Grade 4
I Am My Beloved's
Read and Think
Chapter 6 opens with a question from the friends: Where has your beloved gone, you fairest among women? They offer to help her look for him.
She knows where he is: My beloved has gone down to his garden, to the beds of spices, to pasture his flock in the gardens, and to gather lilies. Then she says, I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine. These words show how husband and wife belong to each other.
Later, someone says, I went down into the nut tree grove, to see the green plants of the valley. The garden is full of new life. In the New Testament, marriage is a picture of Christ's love for His church. Many Christians read the Song this way too. This is an interpretation, not something the Song says directly.
