Psalms 92 · Grade 4

Planted in God's House

Name Date

Read and Think

Psalm 92 is a Psalm and a song for the Sabbath day. It is the only psalm whose title names a day. It says that it is a good thing to give thanks to Yahweh, to proclaim his loving kindness in the morning and his faithfulness every night. Thanks should frame the whole day, from start to finish.

The psalm compares two kinds of plants. The wicked spring up as the grass, quick to grow and quick to wither. A senseless man does not understand this. But Yahweh is on high forever more, and his enemies shall perish.

The righteous are different. They shall flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon, trees known for long life and strength. They are planted in Yahweh's house. They will still produce fruit in old age. Their lasting life shows that Yahweh is upright. He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
