Psalms 8 · Grade 3
What Is Man?
Read the Story
The title says this psalm is for the Chief Musician, on an instrument of Gath. It says it is a Psalm by David. The psalm starts and ends the same way: Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! God has set his glory above the heavens.
David says that from the lips of babes and infants God has established strength. Then David looks at the heavens. He sees the moon and the stars, the work of God's fingers. He wonders, What is man, that you think of him?
God made man a little lower than the angels. He crowned him with glory and honor. He made him ruler over the works of his hands. Sheep, cattle, animals of the field, birds, and fish are all put under his feet.
Memory Verse
“For you have made him a little lower than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honor.”
