Psalms 51 · Grade 3

Create in Me a Clean Heart

Name Date

Read the Story

The title says David wrote this psalm when Nathan the prophet came to him. David had sinned. He did not hide it. He prayed, Have mercy on me, God, according to your loving kindness.

David said that he knew his sin. It was always on his mind. He asked God to wash him. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. He prayed, Create in me a clean heart, O God.

David asked God not to take his Holy Spirit from him. He asked for the joy of salvation again. He said that God will not despise a broken and contrite heart. That means a heart that is truly sorry.

Memory Verse

“Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.”
