The title says this psalm is by David. Some people were unkind to David. They were mean to him for no reason. David asked God to help him.

David said, My soul shall be joyful in Yahweh. Who is like you? God helps the poor and needy. David said he would thank God with many people. He would talk about God's praise all day long.
