Psalms 131 · Grade 3

A Calm and Humble Heart

Name Date

Read the Story

Psalm 131 is titled A Song of Ascents. By David. It is only three verses long. David says, Yahweh, my heart isn't arrogant, nor my eyes lofty.

He does not concern himself with great matters, or things too wonderful for him. He trusts God with what he cannot understand.

Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother. A weaned child does not cry for milk but rests with his mother. David ends, Israel, hope in Yahweh, from this time forward and forever more.

Memory Verse

“Israel, hope in Yahweh, from this time forward and forever more.”

Take It Home

For families: talk about these together.

  • David did not try to do things too big for him. How can you be happy with small things?
  • David did not look down on others. How can you include someone who feels left out?
