Psalms 122 · Grade 4

Glad to Worship Together

Name Date

Read and Think

Psalm 122 is titled A Song of Ascents. By David. It begins with joy: I was glad when they said to me, Let's go to Yahweh's house! The invitation came from others. Worship is something God's people do together.

Then the singer says, Our feet are standing within your gates, Jerusalem! Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together. The tribes go up there, according to an ordinance for Israel, to give thanks to Yahweh's name. The city is also a place of justice, where the thrones of David's house are set.

David closes with a prayer: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Those who love you will prosper. He wants peace within its walls for the sake of his brothers and companions, and he will seek its good because the house of Yahweh is there.
