Psalms 114 · Grade 3
Nature Obeys God
Read the Story
Psalm 114 has no title. It remembers when Israel went out of Egypt. Judah became God's sanctuary. Israel became his kingdom.
The psalm is full of word pictures. The sea saw it and fled. The Jordan was driven back. The mountains skipped like rams. The little hills skipped like lambs.
Then the psalm asks the sea and the mountains why they moved. The answer: Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord. He is the God of Jacob. He turned the rock into a pool of water.
Memory Verse
“The sea saw it, and fled. The Jordan was driven back.”
