Read the Story

Psalm 110 is titled A Psalm by David. David hears Yahweh speak to my Lord. Yahweh says, Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet.

God will send out the rod of this King's strength from Zion. His people will offer themselves willingly to serve him.

Then Yahweh makes a promise he will not change. This King is a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek. Melchizedek was a king and priest in the days of Abraham. In the New Testament, Hebrews says Jesus is a priest like Melchizedek (Hebrews 5:6).

For families: talk about these together.

  • God's chosen ruler would reign even among foes. How can you trust God when people are against you?
  • God's King was like the morning dew, fresh and new. What fresh start can you ask God for?
