Psalms 106 · Grade 3
Forgetful People, Faithful God
Read the Story
Psalm 106 has no title. It begins with praise: give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good. Then it tells the truth: We have sinned with our fathers.
In Egypt the people did not understand God's wonders. They rebelled at the Red Sea. Still God saved them for his name's sake. He dried up the sea and led them through. Then they believed his words and sang.
But they soon forgot his works. They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped it. They grumbled in their tents. God helped them many times. When he heard their cry, he remembered his covenant. The psalm ends with a prayer: Save us, Yahweh, our God.
Memory Verse
“Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power known.”
