Psalm 106 says, give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good. His loving kindness lasts forever.

Long ago God's people forgot him many times. But God still saved them. He dried up the Red Sea and led them through. Then they believed his words and sang his praise. Later they forgot again. But when they cried to God, he heard them.
