Proverbs 21 · Grade 4
God Rules Over All
Read and Think
Proverbs 21 shows God's control over even the most powerful people. The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts. To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice.
God cares how we treat others. Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard. It is joy to the righteous to do justice. He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor. The righteous give and don't withhold.
The chapter ends with God's sovereignty. There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against Yahweh. The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with Yahweh. We should prepare, but our trust is in God.
