Numbers 27 · Grade 3
They Speak Right
Read the Story
The daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. Their father had died in the wilderness and had no sons. They asked Moses and Eleazar, Why should our father's name be taken away? Give us a possession among his brothers.
Moses brought their cause before Yahweh. God said, The daughters of Zelophehad speak right. He made a new law. If a man has no son, his land passes to his daughter.
God told Moses to go up the mountain of Abarim and see the land. Moses asked God to set a man over the people, so they would not be like sheep with no shepherd. God chose Joshua, a man in whom is the Spirit. Moses laid his hands on him.
Memory Verse
““The daughters of Zelophehad speak right. You shall surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers. You shall cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them.”
