A Donkey That Talked

Name Date

Read the Story

A king named Balak was afraid of God's people. He asked a man named Balaam to say bad words over them. God said, Do not do it. My people are blessed.

Balaam got on his donkey and went to see the king. An angel of the Lord stood in the road. Balaam could not see the angel, but the donkey could! She stopped three times. Balaam was angry and hit her.

Then God made the donkey talk! She said, Why did you hit me? Then God let Balaam see the angel. Balaam said, I have sinned. He learned he must say only what God told him.

Memory Verse

Yahweh opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?”
