Numbers 20 · Grade 3
Speak to the Rock
Read the Story
The people came to Kadesh, and Miriam died and was buried there. There was no water, so the people quarreled with Moses. They said, Why have you brought us into this wilderness?
Moses and Aaron fell on their faces, and God's glory appeared. God told Moses to take the rod and speak to the rock before their eyes. But Moses said, Hear now, you rebels! He struck the rock twice. Water came out abundantly.
God said Moses and Aaron didn't believe in Him to show He is holy. So they would not bring the people into the land. Later, Aaron died on Mount Hor. His son Eleazar became the priest, and the people wept for Aaron thirty days.
Memory Verse
“Moses lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice, and water came out abundantly. The congregation and their livestock drank.”
