Numbers 2 · Grade 3
By Their Banners
Read the Story
In Numbers 2, God gave Moses and Aaron a plan for the camp. The tabernacle stood in the center. The Levites camped right around it. Then the other twelve tribes camped farther out, three on each side.
Each tribe camped by its own banner, or flag. On the east, toward the sunrise, were Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun. Judah went first when the camp moved. Reuben's group camped on the south, Ephraim's on the west, and Dan's on the north.
When they traveled, they kept the same order. The tabernacle and the Levites marched in the middle. Thus the children of Israel did. Their camp showed that God lived among them and was at the heart of all they did.
Memory Verse
“Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so they encamped by their standards, and so they set out, everyone by their families, according to their fathers’ houses.”
