Numbers 19 · Grade 3
Ashes and Running Water
Read the Story
God told Moses and Aaron to bring a red heifer without blemish, which had never worn a yoke. Eleazar the priest took her outside the camp. She was burned there.
The priest threw cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet into the fire. A clean man gathered the ashes and kept them in a clean place outside the camp. They were used in water for cleansing.
Anyone who touched a dead body was unclean seven days. A clean person dipped hyssop in the water and sprinkled him on the third day and the seventh day. Then he washed and was clean at evening. God made a way back.
Memory Verse
“The priest shall take cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the middle of the burning of the heifer.”
