Chapter 1Preschool–Grade 5

Micah 1: God Sees and Cares

Micah 1:1 says this is Yahweh's word that came to Micah of Morasheth in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. Micah calls all peoples to listen. Yahweh is coming from his holy temple because of the sins of Samaria and Jerusalem. Micah is so sad that he weeps and mourns for his people.

Chapter 2Preschool–Grade 5

Micah 2: God Gathers His Flock

Micah speaks against people who plan evil at night and take fields and houses from others. They did not want to hear prophets warn them. But the chapter ends with hope. Yahweh promises to gather the remnant of Israel like sheep in a pasture. Their king will go before them, with Yahweh at their head.

Chapter 3Preschool–Grade 5

Micah 3: Leaders Who Love Justice

Micah speaks to the leaders of Israel. They should know justice, but they hate good and love evil. Some prophets said peace only when they were paid. But Micah says he is full of power by Yahweh's Spirit to tell the people their sin. Because leaders judged for bribes, Jerusalem would become heaps of rubble.

Chapter 4Preschool–Grade 5

Micah 4: Swords into Plowshares

Micah looks ahead to the latter days. The mountain of Yahweh's temple will be raised high, and many nations will come to learn God's ways. They will beat their swords into plowshares. No one will make them afraid. Yahweh will gather the lame and the scattered and reign over them on Mount Zion forever.

Chapter 5Preschool–Grade 5

Micah 5: A Ruler from Bethlehem

Micah says that out of small Bethlehem Ephrathah will come one who will be ruler in Israel, whose goings out are from of old. He will shepherd in the strength of Yahweh and be great to the ends of the earth. He will be our peace. Yahweh also promises to remove idols and false trust from his people.

Chapter 6Preschool–Grade 5

Micah 6: What God Requires

Yahweh brings a case against his people. He reminds them how he brought them out of Egypt and sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. The people ask what offering would please God. Micah answers that Yahweh has shown what is good: to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. God also warns against dishonest scales and lies.

Chapter 7Preschool–Grade 5

Micah 7: Who Is a God Like You?

Micah is sad because good people are hard to find. But he says he will look to Yahweh and wait for the God of his salvation. When he falls, he will rise, and Yahweh will be his light. The book ends with praise: no one is like God, who pardons sin, delights in loving kindness, and casts all our sins into the depths of the sea.
