Read the Story

Jesus went to a quiet place, but the crowds followed. He had compassion on them and healed their sick. In the evening, His disciples said to send the people away to buy food. Jesus said, "They don't need to go away. You give them something to eat." They had only five loaves and two fish. Jesus blessed and broke the bread, and about five thousand men, besides women and children, ate and were filled.

Then Jesus sent the disciples ahead in the boat while He went up the mountain to pray. In the night, the wind and waves tossed the boat. Jesus came to them, walking on the sea! The disciples were afraid. Jesus said, "Cheer up! It is I! Don't be afraid."

Peter said, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters." Jesus said, "Come!" Peter walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and began to sink. "Lord, save me!" he cried. Jesus caught him. When they got into the boat, the wind stopped, and the disciples worshiped Jesus, saying, "You are truly the Son of God!"

Memory Verse
