Malachi 1: God Says, I Have Loved You

Malachi 1:1 calls this a revelation, Yahweh's word to Israel by Malachi. God begins by saying, I have loved you. The people ask how. God reminds them of his care. Then he asks why they do not honor him. The priests were offering blind, lame, and sick animals. God says his name will be great among the nations.

Chapter 2Preschool–Grade 5

Malachi 2: Keep Faith

God speaks to the priests. A true priest should teach truth and walk with God in peace. But these priests had turned away and caused many to stumble. God asks, don't we all have one father? Hasn't one God created us? God wants his people to be faithful to him and to one another. The people had wearied God with their words.

Chapter 3Preschool–Grade 5

Malachi 3: Return to Me

God says he will send his messenger to prepare the way. The Lord will come like a refiner's fire. God says, I, Yahweh, don't change. God also said, return to me, and I will return to you. He asks the people to bring the whole tithe and test him. Those who feared Yahweh talked together, and a book of memory was written. They will be his own possession.

Chapter 4Preschool–Grade 5

Malachi 4: The Sun of Righteousness

Malachi ends by saying the day is coming. The proud will not last, but to those who fear God's name the sun of righteousness will arise with healing in its wings. They will leap like calves. God says, remember the law of Moses. He promises to send Elijah the prophet, who will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers.
