Luke 5 · Grade 4
Leaving Everything for Jesus
Read and Think
One morning Jesus sat in Simon Peter's boat and taught the crowd on the shore. Then He told Peter to row into deep water and let down the nets. Peter had fished all night without catching anything. But he said he would do it because Jesus said so. The catch was so large that the nets began to break. Two boats were filled so full they began to sink.
Peter realized he was standing before someone holy. He fell at Jesus' knees and said he was a sinful man. Jesus told him not to be afraid. Peter, James and John brought their boats to land, left everything, and followed Him.
Jesus kept showing His power and mercy. He touched a man with leprosy and healed him. He forgave and healed a paralyzed man whose friends lowered him through a roof. He called Levi, a tax collector. When leaders complained that Jesus ate with sinners, He said sick people need a doctor. He came to call sinners to repentance.
