Luke 20 · Grade 3
God of the Living
Read the Story
The chief priests asked Jesus who gave Him authority. Jesus asked them whether John's baptism was from heaven or from men. They would not answer, so Jesus did not tell them either.
Jesus told a parable. A man planted a vineyard and rented it to farmers. He sent servants to collect fruit, but the farmers beat them. Finally he sent his beloved son, and they killed him. Jesus said the owner would give the vineyard to others. He said the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
Spies asked about paying taxes to Caesar. Jesus said to give Caesar what is Caesar's and God what is God's. Others asked about life after death. Jesus said God is the God of the living, for all are alive to Him.
Memory Verse
“Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all are alive to him.””
