Luke 11 · Grade 3

Ask, Seek, Knock

Name Date

Read the Story

When Jesus finished praying, a disciple asked Him to teach them to pray. Jesus taught them to call God Father. They should ask that His name be honored and His Kingdom come. They should ask for daily bread, for forgiveness, and for help not to be led into temptation.

Jesus told a story. A man knocked on his friend's door at midnight to borrow bread. Because he kept asking, his friend got up and gave him what he needed. Jesus said to keep asking, seeking and knocking. A father would not give his son a snake instead of a fish. So the heavenly Father will surely give the Holy Spirit to those who ask!

A woman called out that Jesus' mother was blessed. Jesus said those who hear God's word and keep it are blessed even more.

Memory Verse

“I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.

Luke 11 · Grade 4

The Father Who Gives

Name Date

Read and Think

Jesus' disciples saw how often He prayed, and they asked Him to teach them. He gave them a model prayer. It begins with God: Father, may Your name be holy and Your Kingdom come. Then it turns to our needs: daily bread, forgiveness of sins, and protection from temptation. We forgive others because God has forgiven us.

Jesus then taught them to pray boldly. He told of a man who knocked on a friend's door at midnight, needing bread for a guest. The friend got up because the man kept knocking. Jesus promised that everyone who asks receives and everyone who seeks finds. Earthly fathers give good gifts, so our heavenly Father will surely give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.

Some people accused Jesus of using the devil's power to cast out demons. Jesus said a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. Later, He warned the Pharisees for cleaning the outside of a cup but not the inside. God cares about our hearts, not just how we look.

Luke 11 · Grade 5

Hear the Word and Keep It

Name Date

Read and Think

Luke 11 opens with Jesus praying, and His disciples asking Him to teach them. The prayer He gave is short but deep. We come to God as Father, which tells us He is close and loving. We ask first for His name to be honored and His Kingdom to come. Then we bring our needs to Him: bread for each day, forgiveness, and help in temptation. Because we are forgiven, we also forgive everyone who wrongs us.

Jesus encouraged persistent prayer. A friend at midnight finally gets up because his neighbor keeps knocking. God is not a grumpy neighbor, but the point is clear: keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. If sinful fathers know how to give good gifts, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask.

The rest of the chapter shows that people responded to Jesus differently. Some said He cast out demons by Beelzebul, but Jesus showed He was stronger than the strong man. A woman praised His mother, and Jesus answered that those who hear the word of God and keep it are blessed. He warned a generation that wanted signs, and He scolded the Pharisees for looking clean on the outside while being greedy inside.
