Luke 10 · Grade 3
Go and Do the Same
Read the Story
A teacher of the law asked Jesus how to have eternal life. He said the law teaches to love God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus said he had answered correctly. Then the man asked, Who is my neighbor?
Jesus told a story. A man was robbed, beaten and left half dead. A priest passed by on the other side. A Levite passed by too. But a Samaritan, someone the listeners did not like, had compassion. He bandaged the man's wounds, put him on his own animal, and took him to an inn. He paid the innkeeper to care for him. Jesus asked who was a neighbor to the man. The teacher said the one who showed mercy. Jesus said, Go and do likewise.
Later, Jesus visited Martha and Mary. Martha was busy and worried. Mary sat at Jesus' feet, listening. Jesus said Mary had chosen the good part.
