Leviticus 3 · Grade 2

A Gift of Peace

Name Date

Read the Story

God told Moses about the peace offering. A man could bring a cow, a lamb, or a goat. It had to have no defect.

He put his hand on its head at the door of the Tent of Meeting. The priest put the best part, the fat, on the altar. It was a sweet smell to God.

God said all the fat is His. He told His people not to eat fat or blood. This gift was about peace with God. It was a way to be glad to be with Him.

Memory Verse

“The priest shall burn them on the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire, for a pleasant aroma; all the fat is Yahweh’s.”

Peace and Thanks

Name Date

Read the Story

The peace offering was a gift to show peace with God. It could be a male or female animal from the herd, the flock, or the goats. Like the other offerings, it had to be without defect.

The worshiper laid his hand on its head at the door of the Tent of Meeting. The priests sprinkled the blood around the altar. The fat was the richest part, and it was burned on the altar. God said all the fat is His.

God gave a rule for all time. His people must eat neither fat nor blood. Later chapters show that the family who brought a peace offering shared in eating the meat. It was like a meal of thanks with God.

A Meal of Peace

Name Date

Read and Think

The third offering in Leviticus is the sacrifice of peace offerings. Peace here means more than no fighting. It means being whole and at rest with God. The offering could be from the herd, the sheep, or the goats, male or female, but always without defect.

The worshiper laid his hand on its head at the door of the Tent of Meeting. The priests sprinkled the blood around the altar. The fat, the richest part, was burned for the Lord. All the fat is Yahweh's, the chapter says.

Leviticus 7 explains that the worshiper and his family then shared in eating the rest. The peace offering was a joyful meal. It showed friendship with God. The Bible says that through Jesus we have peace with God, and He is our peace.

Leviticus 3 · Grade 5

At Peace with God

Name Date

Read and Think

Leviticus 3 describes the sacrifice of peace offerings. While the burnt offering was entirely burned, the peace offering was shared. God received the fat, the priests received a portion, and the worshiper's family ate the rest in a joyful meal before the Lord.

The animal could come from the herd, the sheep, or the goats, male or female, but always without defect. The worshiper laid his hand on its head and killed it at the door of the Tent of Meeting. The priests sprinkled the blood around on the altar and burned the fat and certain inner parts as an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Yahweh.

The chapter ends with a lasting command: It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings, that you shall eat neither fat nor blood. The life and the best part belonged to God. Romans 5 says that being made right by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. In Him, people far from God are brought near and welcomed to His table.
