Leviticus 3 · Grade 4

A Meal of Peace

Name Date

Read and Think

The third offering in Leviticus is the sacrifice of peace offerings. Peace here means more than no fighting. It means being whole and at rest with God. The offering could be from the herd, the sheep, or the goats, male or female, but always without defect.

The worshiper laid his hand on its head at the door of the Tent of Meeting. The priests sprinkled the blood around the altar. The fat, the richest part, was burned for the Lord. All the fat is Yahweh's, the chapter says.

Leviticus 7 explains that the worshiper and his family then shared in eating the rest. The peace offering was a joyful meal. It showed friendship with God. The Bible says that through Jesus we have peace with God, and He is our peace.
