Leviticus 26 · Grade 3

Walk Upright

Name Date

Read the Story

Leviticus 26 begins with three reminders: no idols, keep God's Sabbaths, and honor His sanctuary. Then God gives wonderful promises. Rain would come in its season. Harvests would be so big that old food had to be moved for the new.

God promised peace, and He promised His presence. I will set my tent among you. I will walk among you. He said He had broken the bars of their yoke in Egypt so they could walk upright.

God also warned that if they turned from Him, He would discipline them more and more, even sending them away from the land. But if they confessed their sins, God would remember His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He would not throw them away.

Memory Verse

“I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves. I have broken the bars of your yoke, and made you walk upright.”

Leviticus 26 · Grade 4

A Covenant Promise

Name Date

Read and Think

Leviticus 26 is near the end of the book and sums up the covenant. God promised that if Israel walked in His statutes, He would give rain, abundant harvests, peace, and victory. Most of all, He would set His tent among them and walk among them.

God also warned of what would happen if they rejected Him. The warnings grow stronger in steps, like a father's discipline meant to turn a child back. Disease, drought, enemies, and finally exile would come. Even the land would get the Sabbath rests they had refused to give it.

Yet the chapter ends with hope. If they confess their iniquity, God will remember His covenant. He said, I will not reject them, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly. Paul quotes verse 12 in 2 Corinthians 6:16. In Christ, God dwells among His people.

Leviticus 26 · Grade 5

If They Confess

Name Date

Read and Think

Leviticus 26 serves as the covenant's blessings and warnings, much like the end of a treaty. It opens with the core of loyalty: no idols, keep Sabbaths, reverence the sanctuary. If you walk in my statutes, God promised rain in season, harvests lasting until the next sowing, peace in the land, and victory over enemies. The greatest blessing was relational: I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be my people.

The warnings describe a series of disciplines, each introduced by the words if you will not listen. Each stage was meant to lead Israel back. God said He would break the pride of their power and send drought, wild animals, war, and famine. Finally, Israel would be scattered among the nations, and the land would enjoy its neglected Sabbaths. Israel's later history, including exile to Babylon, shows these warnings were real (2 Chronicles 36:21).

The chapter ends with grace. If they confess their iniquity and humble their hearts, God says, then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and with Isaac, and with Abraham. Even in exile He would not utterly reject them. In 2 Corinthians 6:16 Paul applies verse 12 to the church: God dwells among His people through Christ. The covenant God is both holy and faithful.
