Leviticus 14 · Grade 3
The Day of Cleansing
Read the Story
Leviticus 14 is the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing. The priest went outside the camp to look. If the person was healed, the priest took two living clean birds, cedar wood, scarlet, and hyssop.
One bird was killed over running water. The living bird was dipped and then let go into the open field. The healed person washed his clothes, shaved, and bathed. Then he could come into the camp, though he stayed outside his tent seven days.
On the eighth day he brought lambs, flour, and oil. The priest put blood and oil on his right ear, thumb, and big toe. If he was poor, he could bring one lamb and two birds. The chapter also tells how to cleanse a house with mildew.
Memory Verse
““He who is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and bathe himself in water; and he shall be clean. After that he shall come into the camp, but shall dwell outside his tent seven days.”
