Judges 6 · Grade 3
Mighty Man of Valor
Read the Story
Israel did evil, and Midian ruled them for seven years. The Midianites came like locusts and destroyed the crops. Israel hid in caves and cried to God.
Gideon was beating out wheat in a wine press to hide it. Yahweh's angel said, Yahweh is with you, you mighty man of valor! Gideon asked why so much trouble had come. God told him to go and save Israel.
The angel touched Gideon's meat and cakes with his staff, and fire came out of the rock. Gideon built an altar named Yahweh is Peace. That night he tore down his father's altar to Baal. Then he asked for a sign with a fleece. First it was wet and the ground dry. Then the fleece was dry and the ground wet.
