Judges 2 · Grade 4
A Generation That Forgot
Read and Think
At Bochim, Yahweh's angel reminded Israel that God had kept His promise and brought them into the land. Israel had not kept their part, because they made covenants with the Canaanites and did not tear down their altars. The people wept and offered sacrifices.
Joshua died at one hundred ten years old. The people had served Yahweh while he and the elders who saw God's great works were alive. But the next generation did not know Yahweh or what He had done for Israel.
This chapter explains the pattern of the whole book. Israel worships idols, God hands them over to enemies, they groan in distress, and God raises up a judge to save them. When the judge dies, they turn back again.
