Judges 11 · Grade 2
Pushed Out, Then Called Back
Read the Story
Jephthah was a mighty man. But his brothers did not want him. They drove him out of the house.
Then the people of Ammon came to fight Israel. The leaders of Gilead went to Jephthah. They asked him to come and be their leader. Jephthah said they had pushed him out. But he went with them.
Jephthah sent a message to the king of Ammon. He said God is the Judge. Then God helped Jephthah win. But Jephthah had made a quick promise to God. It brought great sadness to him and his daughter. The girls of Israel remembered her each year.
Memory Verse
“Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and chief over them. Jephthah spoke all his words before Yahweh in Mizpah.”
