Read the Story

Some tribes had helped their brothers win the land. Now Joshua sent them home across the Jordan River. He told them to love God and serve Him.

On the way, they built a big altar by the river. The other tribes were upset. They thought these tribes were turning away from God.

So they sent leaders to ask why. The tribes said the altar was to show they all belonged to God. Everyone was glad. They named the altar A Witness Between Us.

Memory Verse

The children of Reuben and the children of Gad named the altar “A Witness Between Us that Yahweh is God.”
