Joshua 14 · Grade 3
Caleb Asks for the Hill Country
Read the Story
The tribes got their land by lot. Caleb came to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb said he was forty years old when Moses sent him to spy out the land. Moses sent him from Kadesh Barnea.
Caleb said, My brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed Yahweh my God.
Caleb said Yahweh had kept him alive forty-five years. Now he was eighty-five, and his strength was the same. He asked for the hill country where the Anakim lived. Joshua blessed him and gave him Hebron. It was because he followed Yahweh wholeheartedly.
Memory Verse
“Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he followed Yahweh, the God of Israel wholeheartedly.”
