John 5 · Grade 3
Do You Want to Be Made Well?
Read the Story
In Jerusalem there was a pool called Bethesda with five porches. Many people who were sick, blind or lame lay there. One man had been ill for thirty-eight years. Jesus asked him, Do you want to be made well? The man said he had no one to put him in the water.
Jesus said, Arise, take up your mat, and walk. At once the man was healed. He picked up his mat and walked. But it was the Sabbath, and some leaders said he was breaking the law by carrying his mat. Later Jesus found him in the temple and told him to stop sinning.
The leaders were angry that Jesus healed on the Sabbath. Jesus said His Father is always working, and so is He. He said He does what He sees the Father doing. Whoever hears His word and believes has eternal life. Jesus said the Scriptures, John the Baptist and His own works all tell about Him.
