John 3 · Grade 3
You Must Be Born Again
Read the Story
Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a ruler of the Jews. He came to Jesus at night. He said Jesus must be a teacher from God because of His signs. Jesus answered that unless someone is born again, he cannot see God's Kingdom.
Nicodemus asked how a grown man could be born again. Jesus explained that he must be born of water and the Spirit. Like the wind, the Spirit cannot be seen, but you can see what He does. Jesus said that as Moses lifted up a snake in the wilderness, the Son of Man must be lifted up. Whoever believes in Him will have eternal life.
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son. God did not send His Son to judge the world, but to save it. Later, John the Baptist said he was happy that people followed Jesus. He said, He must increase, but I must decrease.
Memory Verse
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only born Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
