Read the Story

There was a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Jesus, His mother and His disciples were there. The wine ran out, which would have been embarrassing for the family. Mary told Jesus, and then she told the servants to do whatever He said.

Six stone water jars stood nearby. Jesus told the servants to fill them with water, and they filled them to the brim. Then He told them to take some to the head of the feast. The water had become wine! The man said the best wine had been saved for last. This was the first of Jesus' signs. It showed His glory, and His disciples believed.

At Passover, Jesus went to the temple. People were selling animals and changing money there. Jesus drove them out. He said not to make His Father's house a marketplace. He said if they destroyed this temple, He would raise it in three days. He meant His body.

Memory Verse

His mother said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it.”

For families: talk about these together.

  • What did Jesus turn the water into?
  • The servants obeyed Jesus even when it seemed strange. When is it hard to obey, and why should you still do it?
