After Jesus said He was leaving, the disciples were upset. Jesus comforted them. They could trust Him just as they trusted God. He was going to His Father's house to prepare a place. He promised to come back and take them to be with Him.

Thomas did not know where Jesus was going. Jesus said He is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. Philip wanted Jesus to show them the Father. Jesus said, He who has seen me has seen the Father. Jesus and the Father are united. The Father's words and works are shown in Jesus.

Jesus promised another Helper, the Holy Spirit. The Spirit would live with them and be in them. They would not be left as orphans. Those who love Jesus obey His word, and the Father and Son make their home with them. Jesus gave them peace, not the kind of peace the world gives.
