John 1 · Grade 3

The Lamb of God

Name Date

Read the Story

The Gospel of John begins like Genesis: In the beginning. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. Everything was made through Him. In Him was life, and that life was the light of people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

God sent a man named John to tell about the light. Then the Word became flesh and lived among us. That means God's Son became a real human being, Jesus. Everyone who receives Him becomes a child of God.

John the Baptist saw Jesus and said, Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! He had seen the Spirit come down on Jesus like a dove. Andrew followed Jesus and brought his brother Simon. Jesus gave Simon a new name, Peter. Philip brought Nathanael, who said Jesus is the Son of God.

Memory Verse

“In him was life, and the life was the light of men.”
