Joel 3 · Grade 4

Multitudes in the Valley of Decision

Name Date

Read and Think

Joel 3 says God will restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem. I will gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat. The name Jehoshaphat means Yahweh judges. God would judge the nations for scattering His people and taking His treasures.

The nations are told, Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears. Joel cries, Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of Yahweh is near in the valley of decision.

Yahweh will roar from Zion, and thunder from Jerusalem. Yet he will be a refuge to his people, and a stronghold to the children of Israel. God promises, So you will know that I am Yahweh, your God, dwelling in Zion. The mountains will drop down sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. Joel's book ends: for Yahweh dwells in Zion.
