Job 26 · Grade 4
The Thunder of His Power
Read and Think
Job's reply to Bildad was sharp. How have you helped him who is without power! How have you counseled him who has no wisdom! To whom have you uttered words? Job showed that a speech about God's greatness is not the same as comfort.
Then Job spoke of God's greatness even more grandly than Bildad. God stretches out the north over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing. He binds up the waters in His thick clouds. He has set a boundary on the waters. The pillars of heaven tremble at His rebuke, and by His Spirit the heavens are garnished.
Job concluded, Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways. How small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand? Even all these wonders are only the edges of what God does.
