Job 23 · Grade 4
He Knows the Way I Take
Read and Think
Job said his complaint was still bitter, and God's hand was heavy on him. He wished he knew where to find God so he could set his cause in order and fill his mouth with arguments. He believed God would not crush him with power but would listen to him.
Job said, If I go east, he is not there. If I go west, I can't find him. He looked north and south too. God seemed hidden. Yet Job still trusted: But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.
Gold is tested in fire to remove what is impure. Job said his foot had held fast to God's steps, and he had treasured God's words more than his necessary food. Still, he admitted he was afraid in God's presence. Job's faith was honest, mixing trust and fear.
