Job 2 · Grade 3
Seven Days of Silence
Read the Story
Once again Satan came before the Lord. The Lord said Job still held fast his integrity. Satan said that if Job's own body were hurt, Job would renounce God. The Lord said Job was in Satan's hand, but Satan must spare his life.
Satan struck Job with painful sores from the sole of his foot to his head. Job took a broken piece of pottery to scrape himself and sat among the ashes. His wife asked if he still held to his integrity and told him to renounce God. Job answered, Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this Job didn't sin with his lips.
Job's three friends heard about his trouble. Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar met together to comfort him. When they saw him from far away, they did not know him. They wept, tore their robes, and threw dust on their heads. Then they sat with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great.
Memory Verse
“So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great.”
