Jeremiah 9 · Grade 3
Friends Who Tell the Truth
Read the Story
Jeremiah was very sad. He wished his eyes were a spring of tears so he could cry for his people. The people had stopped telling the truth. Friends lied to each other, and neighbors could not trust each other.
God said they had taught their tongues to speak lies. Because of their lies, they refused to know God. God wanted his people to be honest and to know him.
God said the wise should not glory in their wisdom. The mighty should not glory in their might. The rich should not glory in their riches. Instead, people should glory that they understand and know God, who shows loving kindness, justice, and righteousness.
Memory Verse
“But let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness on the earth, for I delight in these things,” says Yahweh.”
