Jeremiah 47 · Grade 3
The Sword That Cannot Rest
Read the Story
God gave Jeremiah a message about the Philistines. They lived in cities by the sea, like Gaza and Ashkelon. They had been enemies of Israel for a long time.
God said trouble would come from the north like rising waters. It would cover the land like a stream that overflows its banks. The people would cry out.
Then someone asked the sword of Yahweh how long it would be before it was quiet. They begged it to go back into its scabbard and rest. But it could not rest yet, because God had given it a command.
Memory Verse
““‘You sword of Yahweh, how long will it be before you are quiet? Put yourself back into your scabbard; rest, and be still.’”
