Jeremiah 44 · Grade 3
Whose Word Will Stand?
Read the Story
God's word came to Jeremiah for all the Jews living in Egypt. God reminded them what happened to Jerusalem. He had sent his servants the prophets again and again. But they did not listen. They kept burning incense to other gods.
Now in Egypt they were doing the same thing. Jeremiah spoke to all the people. A great crowd answered him. They said they would not listen to the word he spoke in God's name.
They said they would keep burning incense to the queen of the sky. Jeremiah told them that this was why trouble had come. They had not obeyed God's voice or walked in his law. God said that they would know whose word would stand, his or theirs.
Memory Verse
“Because you have burned incense and because you have sinned against Yahweh, and have not obeyed Yahweh’s voice, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil has happened to you, as it is today.””
