Jeremiah 4 · Grade 3
Wash Your Heart
Read the Story
God told his people that if they would return to him, the nations would be blessed. Then God used a farm picture. He told them to break up their fallow ground. Fallow ground is hard land that has not been plowed.
God told them not to sow among thorns. Seeds cannot grow well in hard ground with thorns. God wanted their hearts to be ready for him. He told Jerusalem to wash its heart so they could be saved.
Jeremiah warned that trouble was coming from the north. It would come like clouds and a whirlwind. Jeremiah felt pain in his heart for his people. They did not know how to do good. Still God said he would not make a full end.
Memory Verse
“Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long will your evil thoughts lodge within you?”
