Jeremiah 36 · Grade 3
The Words Come Back
Read the Story
God told Jeremiah to take a scroll and write all the words God had spoken to him. Maybe the people would hear and turn from their evil way. Then God would forgive them. Jeremiah spoke the words, and Baruch wrote them down.
Baruch read the scroll in God's house. Some princes heard it and were afraid. They told Baruch and Jeremiah to go and hide. Then they told the king.
The king sat by a fire. When three or four columns were read, he cut them off and threw them into the fire. He was not afraid. But God hid Jeremiah and Baruch. God told Jeremiah to take another scroll and write all the words again. Many more words were added.
Memory Verse
“It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I intend to do to them, that they may each return from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.””
