Jeremiah 22 · Grade 3
Do Justice and Righteousness
Read the Story
God told Jeremiah to go down to the house of the king of Judah. God said to execute justice and righteousness. Do no wrong to the foreigner, the fatherless, or the widow.
King Jehoiakim built a large house with wide rooms and cedar walls. But he made his neighbor work without wages. God said woe to the king who builds his house by unrighteousness.
Jehoiakim's father was King Josiah. Josiah ate and drank, and also did justice and righteousness. He judged the cause of the poor and needy. Then it was well with him. God asked if this was not what it means to know him.
Memory Verse
“He judged the cause of the poor and needy; so then it was well. Wasn’t this to know me?” says Yahweh.”
