Jeremiah 20 · Grade 3

Jeremiah in the Stocks

Name Date

Read the Story

Pashhur was a priest and chief officer in God's house. He heard Jeremiah's message and did not like it. Pashhur struck Jeremiah and put him in the stocks at the upper gate of Benjamin.

The next day Pashhur let him go. Jeremiah told Pashhur that God had given him a new name, Magormissabib. It means terror on every side. God's message was still true.

Jeremiah told God how hard things were. Everyone mocked him. He tried not to speak God's word anymore. But it was like a burning fire shut up in his bones. Jeremiah remembered that Yahweh was with him like a mighty one. He sang to Yahweh and praised him.

Memory Verse

“Sing to Yahweh! Praise Yahweh, for he has delivered the soul of the needy from the hand of evildoers.”
